I’ve always been very particular about my bedding. I have to have the perfect pillow, comforter, pillowcase or I can’t sleep well. I’m one of those people that travel with my pillow because I can’t sleep well without it. I tried using a silk pillowcase a few years ago and wanted to love it but I just couldn’t get used to it so I still ended up sleeping on my other pillowcases. Last year I decided to give it another shot and I ended up falling in love with silk pillowcases. We spend about 1/3 of our life sleeping so it’s important to sleep on good pillowcases.
Here are some benefits of sleeping with a silk pillowcase
Helps Prevent Wrinkles
Since silk pillowcases are so smooth they don’t create a lot of friction which causes less tugging on the skin compared to normal cotton pillowcases. Since we spend so much of our life sleeping it’s important to prevent as many sleep wrinkles as we can! I’ve noticed I wake up with fewer creases in my skin once since I’ve switched pillowcases.
Prevents Frizzy Hair & Bed Head
Just like with your skin, there is a lot less friction which in return keeps your hair frizz free! You’ll wake up with fewer tangles and less crazy hair. If you go a few days without washing your hair a silk pillowcase will help extend the life of your blowout/style. I have naturally frizzy wavy hair and I have noticed a big difference in my hair sleeping on a silk pillowcase. If I curl my hair and sleep on it my hair stays exactly how I had it, which usually isn’t the case.
Helps Retain Skins Moisture
Silk is less absorbent than a lot of other fabrics so it helps keep your skins moisture and skincare products on our skin vs sinking into our pillowcase. There’s no point in applying expensive skincare if our pillows are just going to absorb it.
Regulates Temperature
People have mixed opinions but for me personally, I have noticed how much cooler my pillow stays at night. Silk wicks away moisture where as cotton usually absorbs it. My pillow never gets too warm to sleep on anymore.
So now let’s talk about the best silk pillowcases. In my personal opinion, I loooove the Slip silk Pillowcases. They have a huge array of products from silk eye masks, robes, hair accessories. They definitely are on the pricey side so here’s a list of some different price ranges of silk pillowcases.
